Take Your Boat: To Hollywood!

Hollywood has a lot to do and see from a rental boat.  The best place is of course, Margaritaville.  This hotel/resort features a slew of bars and restaurants, all lively places to hang out at for the day or for a couple hours.  Some of the best things to do on a rental boat in Hollywood include:

Stop at Le Tub for a Hamburger.  Made nationally famous on the Oprah Winfrey show for their great burgers, Le Tub is a dockside restaurant and grill where you can grab a first class hamburger on the Intracoastal waterway.

Billy’s Stone Crab- An upscale crab house that has some of the best crab in town.  When stone crab are in season, this is the place to come for crab.  I’ve personally eaten here and the food is really good.  It isn’t cheap and for dinner, it’s expected that you dress business casual.  But one of my favorite places to go for crab in south Florida.

Jimbo’s is a waterfront restaurant, laid back and good food.  Moderate prices… pricey but not too pricey.  Good food, fun for the whole family kind of place.  They have a nice dock that you can pull up to and tie up to.  Be careful of the current when pulling up to the restaurant.  On the tide change, the current can get bad.

Taverna Opas is the Greek restaurant, right on the water.  Not a lot of dockage but you can park next door at Billy’s usually.  It has inside and outside dining.  Nice atmosphere outside to eat some Greek food on the water.

Flickerlight- Capones is a great pizza joint right on the water.  They have a good outside bar with reasonably priced bar service.  Nice little dock to tie up to and grab a pie.

GG’s is another restaurant right on the water.  There is only a small dock there, so it just depends if it’s open or not.  American cuisine mostly like steaks and seafood.  Has a good bar and a nice atmosphere.  It’s a little more upscale there as well.

Anchorages in North Lake and South Lake-  Drive by and see how the sailboats do it.  They anchor there and congregate so there are usually 15-20 sailboats to drive by and check out.  Sailboaters have an unsaid mission to go as long and far as they can without spending any money.  If you want to retire on a dime, come see how the sailboaters live in paradise on almost nothing.
